WHAT WE DO

Two million Israelis cannot afford basic food items for Shabbos. Instead of fluffy challah and sticky ice pops, 1 in 5 children face anguish and shame, week after week. We’re on a mission to change that.

Tomchei Shabbos sends weekly food boxes to families being torn apart by the nonstop tension of poverty. We give so much more than produce, we transform a day of hunger, boredom and aggravation into a day of joy, connection and laughter.

#mytomcheifamily gets food boxes in Jerusalem

“When I’m at the supermarket or at home unpacking my groceries, I think of another family in the hills of Yerushalayim unpacking a box of food that’ll make their Shabbos special. Why them and not me? I’m just so grateful to be on the giving end!”

“I’ve always loved hosting big Shabbat meals. But lately it’s become too hard for me. By giving to Tomchei Shabbos, I know that I’m still giving meals to people in need. There’s a family somewhere in Bnei Brak that is enjoying Shabbat because of my support.”

“Sending our love and support from Florida to Kiryat Shemona! A busy mom (like me) is out there, pinching agurot all week. But when Shabbat comes, she knows she’ll have delicious food for her family.”
